Sodium Separation and/or Purification
NaSelect ceramic membranes have been developed to produce Sodium metal using an electrolytic cell which can operate in the range of 150 to 275oC. The ceramic membrane cell operates at > 95% transfer efficiency to make Alkali (Na) salts from various sodium organic and inorganic based aqueous and non aqueous feed stocks. The modular cell approach can be economically scaled up and is electrochemically an energy efficient process to produce alkali metals compared to current Downs Process.
The NaSelect ceramic membranes have several unique real-world applications:
- Radioactive Waste Stream Recycling
- Industrial Na Waste Stream Recycling
- On-Site Sodium Methylate (SMO) Production for Transesterification
- On-Site Hypochlorite Disinfection Systems
