Ceramatec's“Electrocatalytic Air Sanitizer-Purifier” concept is based on the proven effectiveness of its ceramic oxygen generation electrodes. The complete and immediate destruction of live chemical agents (HD, VX, GD) was accomplished in tests with Ceramatec's oxygen electrodes. Our highly catalytic electrodes caused immediate oxidation of the agents into H2O, CO2 and other non-toxic compounds. These electrodes can be coated onto commercial high flow-through ceramic honeycomb substrates to efficiently and completely oxidize any chemical or biological contaminants in the air stream. When installed in building air ducts, the unit will efficiently and continuously remove a wide range of airborne irritants including pollens and organic vapors. The electrocatalysts in this “filter” will continuously be regenerated and thus require minimal maintenance. By comparison, typical mechanical filters and/or chemicall “traps” must be replaced frequently, and they become dangerously contaminated with high concentrations of the very substances they were designed to remove!

Ceramatec's combined photocatalytic and ozone reactor will achieve more complete oxidation of organic contaminants such as MTBE (gasoline additive) and it will do it more cost effectively than either a photocatalytic or ozone reactor alone. Our reactor utilizes an embedded ceramic electrode system to simultaneously generate ozone and photoactivate nanostructured titania coatings for destruction of organics.
